I've shopped there. It still seemed twice the price of the UK. And I really do mean twice the price, not 5% more expensive.

And I can't get it to give me any prices, except the special offers on the front page.

Yeah, I could see that it wasn't right, but I tried in in the dictionary and it found a match. God knows how

in the UK I shop mostly in Tesco, which wins over own brand and fruit and veg is always better in the UK I'd agree but other products like meat, branded goods I've not found much different.

At gatwick I paid £3 or there abouts for hot chocolate and I thought that's cheap! Well compared to Bergen ;O)

it's minus 1 here at the minute 2 of bedroom windows were frozen over this morning like I was in the car.

When I did go to fill up the car though it was only 85p a litre and shopping in the supermarket is no more expensive than the UK now, .
I dunno where you go shopping in the UK (or where you have found this cheap shop in NO) but that is not my experience.

Some sample Scandinavian prices from normal supermarkets (i.e not the rip off ones that cater for tourists):

a single bread roll - 30p (and no they don't come cheaper if you buy 6)
    a can of coke - 60p (ditto)
a kilo of Colliflower - 4 pounds!!!!! (needless to say, that stayed on the shelf)
a pound of cheddar cheese - 6 pounds (I admit that the local, tasteless, stuff is cheaper).

Whilst it is true that not everything is a factor of 2-4 times the UK price, I have found nothing cheaper to compensate for the above examples, which clearly are.

This takes no account of "value of money".

9p bus ride in Beijing. Well whats that as a % of an average wage that bus ticket represents in each area.

Its like these "could you live on less than a dollar a day" adverts...... well yes if I was in Africa where a loaf of bread costs 1p less than **** all.

Judging by your name, I'm guessing you also arrived really drunk and demanded more booze from the coffee kiosk? As your people do?

(hope you saw that earlier thread, else this wil make no sense and you'll think I'm being very offensive!)
