5* Goa doesn't always equate to 5* anywhere else - the Marriott is probably the same (but has more stringent security checks - more like an airport than a hotel when I was there). Cidade de Goa is nice, but closer to 4* than 5.
I stayed at the Sun Village, which was officially 3* but was as good as the Cidade but cheaper. Only difference was Sun Village had no beach.

Not normally any malaria, but a few cases have been reported recently. The goverment say this is due to large numbers of workers comming from outside of the state to work on building projects in Goa. They already had malaria and they have also introduced it to Goa.Originally posted by rootsnall View PostSorry Chef hijacked your thread !
Little uns are 2.5 and very little. I assume they'll need jabs, is there any malaria ?
But they would say that
You will need something with A/C.
5* hotels in Goa are good, but 3* and below are not really somewhere I would take a child. Loose cable, locks on windows not working etc.

Goa is perfect weather in January & February. Not a cloud in the sky and a bit quieter after the Christmas/New Year peak season.Originally posted by rootsnall View PostWhat about the 4 week winter break first ?
What is Goa like in Jan/Feb ? OK for little uns ?
Have seen lots of people out there with young children and the locals are very welcoming, although obviously common-sense is required regarding hot sun, drinking bottled water etc.
Wish I was going again this Winter

How small are the little ones? Goa is not pushchair friendly, no footpaths.
Tap water not safe to drink, blackouts sometimes.
Have you had them campling before? If they ok then they will be ok in Goa.

that got me thinking about 2008 holidays when I hit the big 30..
to celebrate the miracle that I'm still alive despite the alcohol abuse I've put my body through over the years, I was thinking of going somewhere extra special for a break in 2008..
am looking for holiday destination ideas?
