Interesting idea... why then are there such high numbers of foreign chappies in HMG prisons?

Maybe they're a bit less risk averse than the natives - bit more can-do spirit?

They seem to be doing a good job. They are keeping house prices high (see other thread) and don't cause crime or use social services.

Perhaps we should lobby the wonderful New Labour to accept Romanians and the others without restriction.

I am not a racist nor I meant that thread in this light. However you cannot call the black - white and vice versa.

That is because they don't have the right to work here (yet).

NL are proposing the same unrestricted access that all EU citizens get.

They are proposing it because they know it is not going to change anything.

The system is exploited exactly the same way as it was before these countries' accession to the EU.

The gov knows it and don't care. If they lift the restrictions they will be simply acknowledging this fact.

FYI these countries were joined to EU for the very same reasons. - Grow and boost competition within the EU, which is to compete against the US , Russia , etc.

There are 5000 officially in the UK from these countries since January. In the shade it is probably 3 - 4 times than that. This is nowhere 500 000 Poles.

These two countries are not a prominent factor in immigration statistics.
