A pint and a fight, a great British night!

Well based on my experience - which is going back up to Scotland in the main - Friday/Saturday night in Glasgow gauranteed a few fights. Local towns Ayr and Kilmarnock - same deal, if not worse. Actually my experience in England isn't too much different - Manchester a few months back saw one. Bournmouth - two fights in one night, though one was a couple of girls ...

London 3 1/2 years, not seen a single fight - apart for the one I nearly started with some guy who was hassling my wife ...

It works like the US. If everyone is armed, everyone is polite.

No seriously, though - I've lived in various places and had less agro in London than anywhere. And I've lived in some really dodgy bits of London.
I think it's just the confidence

Gotta agree with Sasguru - wtf are you doing picking your hotel based on the hotel bar when you're in London - there's a million and one bars that beat the sh!t out of the rest of the country, plenty open late. Go forth and sample.

Aye. Why stay in a boring hotel bar when you're in the greatest city in the world. I'm disappointed with you. Plenty of good late night bars if you do your research. Also here's a little secret: you're less likely to get any aggro in London (depending where you are of course) then any other place in the country. Not a lot of people know that ...

PS If you want swanky, try this:
    http://www.milesfaster.co.uk/london-...ital-hotel.htm

Location is the poshest part of London and loads of nightlife around there. You're likely to bump into the princes tulip-faced.

I love St Martins Lane hotel too, but I've stayed there before.

What I'm looknig for is uber swankyness (as it'll be our AGM after all)
    Excellent cocktail/brandy bar
Perfect location for shopping on the Saturday (although, everywhere in London is easy to get to I think).
Easy enough to meet you lot on the Firday (which we cant answer, as we dont know where we're going yet!)

    Any ideas?

I was thinking of the Met, but I'm not sure where Park Lane is in relation to anything (except on a monopoly board!)
Don't mess about, book the Dorchester! Not sure that you would like the bar, but swanky cocktails it certainly does.

Park Lane is not too far from anywhere. It is between the western ends of Piccadilly and Oxford Street so perfect for shopping. I would never get on the tube to do a journey that starts and ends within in an area bounded by Park Lane to the west, Covent Garden to the east, Charing Cross to the south or the Marylebone road to the north. It is easier to walk (but then I do know where I am going)

I just got 2 rooms at the 4 star Hilton Olympia for £61 each for a Saturday in November via Priceline.

Seems like a pretty good deal as the LastMinute price is £147 for the cheapest room.
