On the subject of the Russians resuming patrols near UK airspace how much does NATO expect to get away with before the Russians react.

Under perestroika (agreed also with Maggie Thatcher) NATO agreed not to expand into the Eastern Europe if the former USSR withdrew it’s forces and influence in Eastern Europe.

Russia withdrew its aerial patrols and forces from Eastern Europe.

NATO continued with its patrols, expanded NATO to the Russian border, and placed radar early warning stations along the border.

Russia has now resumed the patrols, going near UK airspace gets translated by the media as Russian bombers forced out of UK airspace by RAF. Humm

just reading readers comments to an article in the Times about Russian incursions to UK airspace...found this gem - do you think this chap is bitter?

Nice 1 russia, let the Americans & English know you are still there! for Hundreds of years ,first the English and now the americans seem to think its ok for them to colonise the world where they are not wanted, the English did this to Scotland 400 years ago, Unfortunately only William Wallace and his Scottish Army put up a fight, but due to Greedy backstabbing Edinburgh Land Owners he was Sold Out, Fact! the Only Reason why Edinburgh is the Capital of Scotland is Because it was the First Place in Scotland that there was an English Garrison, and now the so called sell out Parliment is There, Sadly the Scottish Nation will never Rise and be a Nation Again, we have been crap,d on by the English ever since, will we gain full independance? I would go even further and claim the Artic for the Queen of ENgland and her commonwealth, namely Cananda, and declare we are using our base on Antartica to drill for Oil and other minerals. Wind them up they will go crazy and spend all their money on useless weapons, then we can take them over once and for all..
