Don't go on a Sunday if you're into shopping. Everything will be closed.
Some nice areas around the place, but if you're not into the fashion scene its just another european city... not really much to do there.

Well said GJ.Originally posted by gingerjedi View PostFlorence is a pretty but expensive and you have to pay to see just about everything of interest.
IMHO Rome has it all, no matter where you stay as soon as you step out onto the street you're in a living and breathing museum... Best city on earth, apart from LEEDS of course.

Maybe been a bit harsh on Flo, it was more that it didn't live upto my expectations as some people had told me it was better than Rome. Infact people I talk to are pretty divided about which they prefer. I just felt it was a tourist trap as a lot of Rome is, but at least there you can find 'your own corner' away from the crowds.
Going to Milan to see the Last supper and do some shopping, not expecting much else apart from risotto and a couple of bars.

I hear Milan is more like West Berlin than Rome, only less friendly! Enjoy Rome.
