Any advice on buying diamonds? Went to Hatton Garden this weekend and was met with a bewildering array of choices. A princess-cut solitaire is the end-game objective, any suggestions as to the best stores/sources or tips to share?
That's your mistake. I took my girlfriend to South Africa and bought her engagement ring there! Really helpful guy, educated us on diamonds first and then helped us pick out one. We picked the diamond and then the ring. Genuine guy. Had it valued for insurance purposed when we came back and I was staggered how much I had saved!

Got a good holiday out of the deal too....!!

Going stateside soon? I got mine from a broker in New Jersey. Excellent quality and I paid half of what I would have paid here.

If you can spare the time, bury a few lumps of coal in the garden. Hey presto! 65 million yesr later, a veritable De Beers all of your own.

I used Boodles in Royal Exchange (they have a shop in Harrods as well).

Absolutely fantastic, young guy named Chris looked after everything for me.

Showed me plenty of choice, I found a fantastic diamond set in another ring, they removed it and reset it in a new platinum band for me inside a week.

    Real quality.

I used John Morely in Watford for Engagement/Wedding Rings and they created the rings I requested with diamonds that were flawless.

I had to have my wedding ring reshaped about a year ago after managing to crush it to more of an oval shape than a circle. The jewellers that repaired it commented on the quality of it and how well it had come up after a quick clean which I took as a sign that it was worth the money paid.
