Yes, he seemed a decent cove. Come the revolution I suspect he'd be dragged out and shot for being one of the bourgoise, but in fact he was millions in debt trying to maintain his castle.

    Sorry.

It was in the immensely tedious Greek Democracy programme with Bethany Hughes or whatever she's called.

    Execution of Socrates.

    Or something.

There was a particularly interesting bit of defragging going on at that moment.

Is threat a subtle lizard threat.

Actually there is still debate about hemlock, Plato described Socrates death by hemlock as you described, but Nicander described as a far more violent death.

I read reviews that said Mountains was beautiful to watch but spoilt by Griff's narration/dialogue.

Might give it a go next week though.

It brought back many memories, particularly the Cuillins. They didn't mention the midges of Sligachan though - worst in the world. There was a Wainwright programme on BBC4 after it and that was pretty good too. Ahhhhhhh....

Decided not to watch this as I didn't think it would be any good.

    Looks like I was wrong.

I've just checked the BBC listings for the week and it's not being repeated which is surprising.

I'll make a point to catch it next week.

I dislike Griff. Just can't stand him.

I think "To The Baltic With Bob" did it for me. Utter pap. And as boring as can be.

And he did that Restoration Village thing: "We want our well off the beaten track, nice posh village to be improved, because we're all spent-up, having bought our 23rd Cornish cottage, and, what with the kids' private violin lessons to pay for (and let's not even talk about the cost of skiing, darling) ..."

    Bleauurggh!!!

    Sorry.
