    Reduce rate?

You must be joking. I just negotiated a 6 month extension and a 10 % rate increase.

Inflation is rampant, tax is taxing and the era of cheap credit is going

Anyone who isn't getting at least 4% every year in rate rises is actually going down the pan in terms of income.

If you can't get an interview, revamp CV and put "Consultant" all over it, move upmarket, and double your rate. Buy an expensive looking suit and get a good haircut and the fools will pay it.

    Works every time.

You might want to consider reducing your rate, just for the summer to get a gig, or, if you can sustain a few months without working, enjoy the sun somewhere cheap, like australia!

You ought to adjust your attitude to risk. Working is simply too risky. These people have the right idea:

    started a topic Friday Blues

    Friday Blues

Been looking for a new gig for about 8 weeks now but unfortunately nothing in the bag. Had a 4 or 5 potential things that were very close but then fell at he last hurdle. "project put on hold", "another agency got it", "you're good but too expensive", "gave job to internal guy". I am sure we have all seen these before!!

I am still attacking the usual websites but getting a bit "blue" due to the lack of takers and the concern that the holiday season is approaching and things will get worse.

Any tips to cope with the blues? What do you guys do to motivate yourselves in this situation? Any suggestions to try to get the next gig?
Working...
