Join the frequent flyer program if there is one and ou have time. Mention you're on honeymoon to your travel agent and again at the airline customer service desk at the airport. Have a copy of your marriage certificate.

Can't afford to go anything but Economy. We did ask about the price for business but that was about £2000 more than we could afford for our 14 nights stay. Naturally we will ask to be upgraded but checking the website apparently the flight is already full so will have to see what happens.Originally posted by Moscow MuleDon't forget to tell the check-in staff you're on your honeymoon, they might bump you up a class (unless you're already in First, I think they frown upon flying in the cabin these days)
How would you ask them just simply say "It's our honeymoon any chance on a free upgrade ?"

They are bloody amazing. Best airline by far in the world. Only one that comes close is Emirates. Great choice, I have flown with them for the past 26 years, not a single complaint.

Seaview looks nice - which reminded me about the Let's Relax Spa. Took the other half there for her birthday. Approx 50 quid each for the full session but it's absolute bliss. Should be just the thing for a honeymoonOriginally posted by Cooperinliverp00lThanks Epiphone. We are staying at the Seaview Hotel which apparently has been recently renovated and hasn't had any bad review yet.
I have been looking on some forums and had Richard mentioned. Sent him a mail for some contact details when we get over there.
Did you fly with Singapore Airline. That is who we are flying with and have never flown with them before any feedback.
Also what did you do about phone calls i'm thinking of getting a sim card from over there as it may work out cheaper.
I would definatly recommend them. Can't remember the name of the place but if you're at the Jungceylon mall (you won't be able to miss it) stand with your back to it and go left (Burger king should be behind you when you set off), keep walking until you hit the massage places. There's one where all the girls dress in pink tops and it's 250B for a foot massage that lasts an hour. Can't remember if it's before or after the OTOP markets but you'll find it. Do check out Let's Relax though.
we went with Thai Airways. Never again. They have one TV screen at the end of the aisle. Crap for a 12 hour flight. I *think* Singapore will let you check-in online. DO IT! Me and our lass ended up sitting 4 rows apart despite getting to Heathrow 4 hours early. Having said that most airlines (and the hotel in Thailand) will give you some freebies if you mention it's your honeymoon. i've used Singapore once from Singapore to Cairns and was OK. They had little TVs dotted about but they may have better facilities for long haul. (I got bored easily on flights so a good TV is a must).
For phonecalls get a calling card from any newsagent. SIM cards are problematic and there's some rule about crediting them that I can't remember but put me off bothering when I was looking it up last December. Try not to use a mobile. Cost me a tenner to ring me Gran to say Happy Birthday for 3 minutes. It's cheap, very, with a calling card.
A lot of good info at http://www.phuket-info.com/forums/ too.
Also, Seaview may offer to get ou a taxi from the airport, just check their prices. You can get it for about 500B from a taxi outside (after the necessary bargaining etc) but some hotels will try charge you 1000 upwards. We paid around 700 organised by our hotel (and the price should be for you) both not per person) because it's easier to have someone waiting for you after a long flight but just make sure you're not being over charged. What you pay for the taxi sets the precedent for what the hotel thinks they can charge you for stuff.

You'll be hitting low season in July/August so expect it to be a bit wet. The prices tend to come down though. Thais have a way of trying to get a much money out of you when they're not earning so bargain and bargain hard.
The Holiday Inn do a good cooking course which is fun and you get to keep anything you cook.
The beach in Patong is a bit crap so get a tuk-tuk to Kata or Karon. Dunno about low season prices but it should be less that 300B.
I know you're on your honeymoon but it's worth having a wander down Bangla Road where all the girly bars are just for a look. Most bars tend to have offers on beer to get you in too so you can save a bit of cash there.
If you like diving (the Scuba kind) we used Scuba Cat. Our instuctor wasn't great but hte dive centre is. It's on the main strip - Beach road - in Patong where most things are. Have a meal in the Papya restaurent. It doesn't look much but it's very nice. Our lass got the only dodgy tummy in 2 weeks from 3 Spices but YMMV.
A taxi to Phuket Central shouldn't cost more than 300B, it's a Western style shopping mall but cheaper. Our lass got two pairs of Levi's for £18. If you just want cheap stuff to wear on holiday then throw away just use the market stalls but BARGAIN!
Have a good trip

the hmongs are the things to see, huge limestone islands , go on a daytrip, they provide sea canoes, and you go in at low tide when there's just enough room to get in, they're hollow in the middle like giant donuts, not to be missed
