Exactly my pointOriginally posted by TrollHow many here have managed to secure sole trader (proprietor) status for what we do from HMG - years ago it looked an attractive option over the Ltd status - not sure if its realy worth the hassle now a days.
I have not met anyone for ages the does not follow the Ltd model...so liabiity woud be limited and therefore the need for insurance cover reduced.
Only If I was working on something like a Air Traffic control system would I change my view

If it's just a laptop, briefcase & mobile phone, I wouldn't worry too much about it.
But trading as a sole trader with your home and everything else you own being liable assets. get insured asap.
Can't be simpler than that

You have to as yourself, do you really need itWe have teamed up with leading broker, Caunce O'Hara, to provide competitive insurance cover for contractors (and design engineers).
Joining any insurance scheme couldn't be easier and just involves filling out an online application form.
Caunce O'Hara is FSA (Financial Services Act) registered and ABI (Association of British Insurers) registered and has been trading since 1996. They are the broker of choice for many contractor accountancy, legal and recruitment companies in the UK.
Cover from Caunce O'Hara can be available over the phone if by paying VISA/Mastercard.
