http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/6750447.stmA controversial bill to exempt MPs from the Freedom of Information Act seems almost certain to fail as no-one has agreed to sponsor it in the Lords.
A sponsor was needed by the end of business on Wednesday, but no-one stepped forward.
Although technically it could still be revived, it would be difficult to find time for a second reading.
When Blair came to power, there was wide agreement from MPs about a "Freedom of Information Act". This came to pass a couple of years ago.
However, earlier this year MPs got together to pass a bill exempting themselves from the act!!!
Thankfully, this bill has how been stopped... by the Lords. What has Britain come to when the House of Lords acts in the peoples' interest, and the House of Commons acts in its own (very squalid and selfish) interest.Last edited by Lambros; 14 June 2007, 18:12.
