unfortunately acts like this bring more valid points to the whole concept of a nanny state, as an act like this proves that idiots should not be in charge of any flame producing objects, so what better way to enforce an outright ban on smoking.

No, everything that burned was original (apart from the tent built for the current works), just that not everything original got burned.

It seems that the top deck, masts and deck houses had been removed and put in storage to allow works on the ships structure to take place. All the remaining structure was seriously damaged.

I think we'll see Patricia Hewitt on the telly saying we should have brought in the smoking ban a lot ealier and then nothing like this would have happened.

No, everything that burned was original (apart from the tent built for the current works), just that not everything original got burned.
