All part of HMRC's modus operandii and fairly typical of where we are headed in this craphole of a country.

HMRC start from a position of guilty until proved innocent. They hope that the initial communication will scare you into coughing up without a fight.

When they find that they’re up against a pack of Rottweilers – in your case SJD - and can see that the cost of pursuing their vendetta will outweigh any net gain they tend to back off. Sometimes it happens quickly, other times it takes a year or 2. In the case of Arctic it took 7 years.

Key point is to get yourself insured. Doesn’t matter whether it’s via the PCG or direct to QDOS, Accountax or anyone else – GET YOURSELF INSURED.

£200 a year and you can lie back and smell the flowers.

Well done SA, when they 'drop' a case does that go down as a loss to HMRC or do they just scuffle away in a 'nothing to see here' mode?
