I always chase recruiters - normally with a couple of snarling, hungry, bad tempered Rottweilers in tow.

PS you can tell the wheat from the chaff......dont put your last four or five clients names on the cv, instead what line of business (e.g insurance) if they start sniffing for names then you know their fishing

Originally posted by SoupDragonHmm, I keep applying for contracts on Jobserve. I never hear back - maybe from one out of 20. If I try ringing them, they are usually not there.
Is it worth chasing them or have they made their minds up already and will just fob you off?

"Could you put me through to Richard Sole please? I need to speak to him about some Contract roles I need filling fast".

Actually he's trying to avoid you as he has no feedback to give you and chasing his next deal.

I reckon it depends on how you phone up as well. If you phone up and say meakly
'Cough, errrm is David Andrews there please. My name is Paul Smith and I would like to speak with him' - Answer he's busy
Now look in the mirror. Say 'I'm a tiger. Grrrrr' Then Phone with a cocky, cold calling salesman attitude.
'Hi Babes. Paul here. Dave around, put us through love he's expecting my call. Pronto!'

I never get any contracts by directly applying for them. Most of them are phoney anyway.
Its only when some random agent who call to say that he got my cv from some job site.
