I always chase recruiters - normally with a couple of snarling, hungry, bad tempered Rottweilers in tow.

Just stick your cv on jobsite/jobserve, I've just updated my cv uploaded it to my existing account and had 30 calls in one day, let them come to you.Originally posted by SockpuppetSorry the client has pulled the roles.
PS you can tell the wheat from the chaff......dont put your last four or five clients names on the cv, instead what line of business (e.g insurance) if they start sniffing for names then you know their fishing

Jobserve seems to be dead on its feet. I've had a lot more calls since I put my CV on jobsite last week. I'm beginning to think that's where the agents all start now.Originally posted by SoupDragonHmm, I keep applying for contracts on Jobserve. I never hear back - maybe from one out of 20. If I try ringing them, they are usually not there.
Is it worth chasing them or have they made their minds up already and will just fob you off?

"Could you put me through to Richard Sole please? I need to speak to him about some Contract roles I need filling fast".
Straight through!

He's currently at lunch, on the phone, in a meeting. Take your pick.Originally posted by MarillionFan'Hi Babes. Paul here. Dave around, put us through love he's expecting my call. Pronto!'
Actually he's trying to avoid you as he has no feedback to give you and chasing his next deal.

I reckon it depends on how you phone up as well. If you phone up and say meakly
'Cough, errrm is David Andrews there please. My name is Paul Smith and I would like to speak with him' - Answer he's busy
Now look in the mirror. Say 'I'm a tiger. Grrrrr' Then Phone with a cocky, cold calling salesman attitude.
'Hi Babes. Paul here. Dave around, put us through love he's expecting my call. Pronto!'

I never get any contracts by directly applying for them. Most of them are phoney anyway.
Its only when some random agent who call to say that he got my cv from some job site.

Actually I almost considered going to the office of some kunty agent who f*cked me over and waiting for him outside. But I thought it was bit too Travis Bickle. Now when it happens, I smile.Originally posted by KyajaeI only chase agents if

I only chase agents ifOriginally posted by gingerjediGet your CV to as many good agents as possible, I have only once got a gig by applying the rest of the time it was a phone call from the agent saying they have a role that maybe suitable for me after looking at my CV.

If your industry is anything like mine, the chances of being a 100% match are slim given the list of 100 skills and desirables they tend to demand on the job specs. It's not so difficult, of course, to be the best matching applicant, but that's another story.Originally posted by SoupDragonI have only been applying for things where my CV is a 100% match..
