Contractor mate who has been loafing for a while has just passed all his HIP exams and is ready to go in June when they are compulsory. One problem is the estate agents will probably offer cut price HIPs as part of their efforts to get your business and then add it on their commission when you complete. Too much easy money in contracting yet ! OK for the semi retired types maybe.

If the HIP included a full survey that was guaranteed to be accepted by the buyers mortgage company then it may make sense. Seeing as neither of these are likely (from what I understand) then it's just more red tape on top of what you've already got.

Surveyors must be laughing all the way home every night. Selling the same information to every mug that's walks in interested in a particular property.

Same with vehicle inspections when you're interested in a new used car. It's all arse about tit. Not half as fun as all about tit and arse.

I thought the HIP was canned and the EPC was all that would be required to sell your home. Obviously not.

Seems to me it's the trainers who are doing well...
