The other thing to do is to join a religious cult. A week of two's isolation in a countryide setting being brainwashed by lovebombing, being half starved to death and overexercising and listening to bogus lectures on false prophets that live in a Californian mansion with a fleet of Rolls Royces and probably an ammunition factory somewhere is just the ticket to heaven you need and the passport to leaving contracting behind. From then on you'll be flogging bunches of flowers for a tenner a throw for 14 hours a day..

Originally posted by Dark BlackInteresting little thread this - particularly since a couple of months ago, after 17 odd years in IT I had enough, chucked the well paid permie role and left.
The last two months have been the best for a very long time - till last week when I decided perhaps a contract might be a good idea for a while, popped the CV up on one of the websites and was surprised that the phone didnt stop ringing all week. I ended up going along to an interview (still not sure why), didnt really try hard but got offered the gig at a good rate. I'm due to start next week checks permitting but TBH I'm really not sure it's something I want to be doing anymore...
So dropping out - a wonderful idea but I really not sure what to do next!!!

Read a brilliant book by an english bloke who joined the legion. Apparently regime was brutal and they had to learn loads of songs in french which were a nightmare. Some of the on and off-duty tales were good though.
Too tough for my desk-riding, used to my comforts ass I fear.
