All my 7 contracts have come through agencies. In that time, I have not really had a cross word with any of them. I have been messed about a bit during the recruitment process by a few agencies, but rarely take it personally. I won't deal with Hoaxley in any way but that is about it.
The rest have been mostly professional, not taken huge percentages and paid on time, what else do I need from them ?
You fail the interview - agent doesn't tell you because SOME nobber contractors get arsey when they get bad news - No call - you didn't get the contract, move on.
Agent finds someone better/cheaper/more local/more desperate/someone they can exploit for bigger margin and doesn't tell you you weren't put forward - you didn't get the contract, move on. As an aside to this, I like the PSL arrangements for this reason.
It is a tough BUSINESS, grow a thick skin, you will need it and don't sweat the small stuff or things you can't control !

I also hang up on agents who's accents I cant understand - sorry but if I cant understand your broken English now, I'll be livid when I haven't been paid and am trying to get an explaination off you!

Apart from that, I'm normally nice as pie - they're just doing a job after all.

BUT agents like Jamie (who can't possibly be real, but who I'll be looking out for in the future - I deal with IT Recruit a lot) shouldn't come on here touting for jobs and spouting his smarmy patter without expecting to be instantly shot down! Come on!
I didn't come on here to tout any jobs and I hope i'm real! Look I didn't come on here to take crap just to say don't slag off all of us because we are not all crooks like you think.

All you need to do is maintain a good relationship with a few good agents. It's only the newbies who should/could be having problems. It may be those still having problems have the wrong (bad) attitude.

I'm always fairly polite and even engage in banter from time to time, usually at the expense of the company the agent is trying to recruit for - eg caudwell group, moneysupermarket.com

The only thing i really hate about some agents is the fake contracts used to fish for leads, although i've wised up to that now so I don't fall for it so it doesn't bug me.
