Once when I got home from work at about 6:30pm, I got a call from a contractor friend to go meet him in a city pub, when I got there half an hour later I found he was still on his extended lunch break. At the time he claimed his work actually preferred contractors not to come back after they'd had a few, and that they didn't mind as they didn't have to pay for hours that hadn't been worked. A few days later he told me that they had had a word with him though.

At my last place we used to hit the pub on a Friday lunchtime, I knew it was time to leave when we used to be on our third pint of the hour (during our lunch half hour) and didn't give a damn about going back

The record at my first job was 8 pints...and that was with only an hour for lunch. It was organised with military precision....taxi to the pub at 12pm, drink as much as you can then taxi back to work at 12:55pm. The record holder didn't do much work that afternoon
