I was talking to a fellow farmer in Denmark who'd escaped from East Germany when they had a thing going on where the local kids, even his own children, would follow him around the farm asking, repeatedly, why he wouldn't give his farm, which had been in the family since before records began, to the state, and go and work in a factory.
Small wonder a large proportion of the poor buggers appear insane.
I think it is cruel to display them on TV shows like they do. An awful lot of them need serious psychiatric help.

They're East Germans which explains a lot. Every chat show here seems to only have Ossies on it, they're all freaking weirdos, wear crap clothes, look like tulipe and sleep with their sister/mother/aunt/donkey/fill in the blank. They make people on Jerry Springer look normal.
