Which might be admirable, were it not for the fact that if we follow that advice and "look behind a person's disability", we should naturally offer all jobs to all people irresepective of physical capability.

Expect to see blind airline pilots then, and quadraplegic soldiers on the battlefield, and Judges with Tourettes.

Actually, if priests can get away with Tourettes (Father Jack) I suppose Judges can get away with it too.

My dad lost the lower half of his left lewg when he was a kid.

He won medals for his dancing. Len Goodman judged him on occasion. He lost out on some medals because he couldnt do certain moves which required ankle rotation (obviously).

If Mills' partner can create routines which which require no pointing then she can be as good as anyone.

Mills to star in US dancing show

Lady McCartney has complained of receiving death threats
Heather Mills McCartney is to take part in TV show Dancing with the Stars, the US version of the BBC's Strictly Come Dancing, it has been confirmed.
Sir Paul McCartney's estranged wife, who lost a leg 14 years ago, will appear on the ABC show from next month.

Lady McCartney, 38, split from the former Beatle last May and the couple are in the process of getting divorced.

Her spokesman said: "It's something that might take her mind off some of the difficulties she's been having."

Lady McCartney married Sir Paul in 2002 and the couple have a three-year-old daughter, Beatrice.

Her spokesman Phil Hall told the BBC News website: "She's doing it because she loves dancing, always has, enjoys a challenge and sees this as a combination of both."

Her participation was "nothing to do with the money", he added. "It's just to do with he challenge and fun of it."

The show's website said Lady McCartney would be the first contestant to dance with an artificial limb.

Lady McCartney lost her left leg below the knee when she was hit by a police motorcycle in 1993. Mr Hall said it was "not easy" to dance with an artificial leg.

"She skis with an artificial limb and runs and cycles with an artificial limb and this is just the latest of those many challenges that she's faced and that's what drives her on," he said.

Safety fears

Earlier this month, Lady McCartney visited a police station in Hove, East Sussex, to discuss death threats.

In December, she told the BBC she feared for her personal safety and had little money to pay for security.

Her participation in the show was announced by chat show host and former Dancing with the Stars contestant Jerry Springer.

"There's a lot of message in that because it's to show people whatever challenges they face in life they can dance," he said on ABC's Good Morning America.

"She might be a sentimental favourite."

Dancing rivals

She will appear alongside country singer Billy Ray Cyrus, who had a global hit with Achy Breaky Heart and has since been seen in The Disney Channel's series Hannah Montana.

Other contestants will include Muhammad Ali's daughter Laila, former N'Sync singer Joey Fatone and actor Vincent Pastore - who played Salvatore in The Sopranos.

Also appearing are Ian Ziering, who appeared as Steve Sanders in Beverly Hills 90210, Olympic speed skating champion Apolo Anton Ohno and basketball legend Clyde Drexler.

TV presenter Leeza Gibbons and models Paulina Porizkova and Shandi Finnessey complete the line-up for the show, which begins on 19 March.

The stars must learn a new dance with a professional partner every week, with the weakest contestant voted off.
