battle trying to rise through the management ranks in the UK ?
funny thing is, never ceases to amaze me how many brits are in
middle and senior management roles in IT for all kinds of companies

you will need to be very lucky to get a position where you are required to "lead" something. Not many companies will too readily put an Italian in charge of anything worthwhile. Have you considered applying for a position designing reverse gears for armoured vehicles at all?
