    Here you go, complicated and not that generous, confirming my refusal to do on call. I would ask for a better deal than this if they forced me to do it !


    Saturday working 1.5 x daily rate
    Sunday and Bank Holiday working 2 x daily rate
    Christmas day & New Years day 3 x daily rate

    On Call & Call Out Payments

    On Call (Standby)

    Should you be asked to be on call the following On Call (standby) payments will apply.

    On Call payments = 2.5% of the of the appropriate day rate for each hour on call.

    Call Out
    Should you receive a call, the following call out payments will apply and be logged as Call Out Units. 1 Call Out Unit (C/Ou) is equal to 6.25% of the appropriate daily rate.

    1St Call: - A call out payment of 2 C/Ou’s will be made. This is a minimum callout payment and covers a call up to 1 hr. For calls that last over 1 hr further payments will be of 1 C/Ou for each further ½ hr or part of.
    2nd and further calls: - A call out payment of 1 C/Ou will be made. This is a minimum callout payment and covers a call up to ½ hr. For calls that last over ½ hr further payments will be made of 1 C/Ou for each further ½ hr or part of.

    Unofficial Call Out
    From time to time a consultant may receive a request for support out of normal hours when not officially on call. (e.g. a need to respond to a P1). Assuming the consultant is able to provide support, the consultant can consider that they have moved to on call status and book both On Call (standby) and hours worked. On Call (Standby) hours in this instance will be 8 hrs at the appropriate daily rate.


    On Call payments are based upon daily rates
    Calls Out payments are based upon the day rate e.g. Saturday 1.5 x daily rate
    It is not possible to claim for on call payment whilst booking working time

    Saturday and Sunday working must be approved in advance by your line manager.
    Should you wish to work weekends by your own choice normal daily rates will apply.

    when I've done on call before it been to be on standby for one full week Sun - Sat. For this I've charged 1 lot of daily rate, plus and hours worked due to being called out, which is always out of hours, so ether 1.5x or 2x if it was on a sunday. I also charged for any expenses, i.e having to drive to the office or phone calls (travel time whas also charged) and I always made sure we would have a 'catchup' call a few hours after the problem was resolved just to check, this time was also charged for

    Depends how much you want the work/money !? If they are paying contractors to do it its usually a nightmare about to happen and I would avoid it like the plague and hence ask for big bucks. I can dig out the T&Cs for support in my current gig if you desire, they are pretty good I think.
