“Business leaders having “direct access” to ministers is good for democracy, the business secretary has said.

Defending Boris Johnson over the revelations that he texted Sir James Dyson, the entrepreneur and Tory donor, offering to “fix” a problem over the tax status of his employees, Kwasi Kwarteng said that “people are trying to lobby ministers, lobby MPs all the time”.

He told Sky News: “Business people are contacting MPs all the time, constituents also contact me on my phone. I think that in a modern democracy it’s very good that people actually can have direct access to ministers and people who are taking responsibility”.”

Beacuse obviously having wealthy people asking PM directly about tax breaks is totally normal behavior for Tory Scum.


"The government has announced an internal inquiry into the leak of private messages between Boris Johnson and businessman Sir James Dyson.

Texts published by the BBC showed the prime minister promising Sir James he would "fix" an issue on the tax status of Dyson staff working in the UK during the pandemic.

Labour has said the messages are part of a pattern of government "sleaze".

The PM said he made "no apology" for trying to get ventilators for the NHS.

Asked about the leaks, Mr Johnson's official spokesman said: "We have instructed the Cabinet Office to look into this."
