An NHS health advisor quit her call centre job and became a figurehead for the Covid-19 conspiracy movement, it has emerged. Louise Hampton resigned from Care UK, a major provider for the 111 service, after a video of her describing an award for her work during the pandemic as a ‘certificate of b******s’ went viral. She has since continued to spread disputed claims via social media and is touring Covid-19 testing sites without wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) in an effort to show they are empty. The anti-vaxxer’s claims are contradicted by her employer, who pointed to a 400% peak in calls, and by official figures, which now shows that the number of coronavirus deaths in the UK has passed 50,000.

Police have finally forced a North London gym to close after a day-long stand-off involving up to 30 officers. Zone Gym in Wood Green has been defying lockdown rules for a week with owner Andreas Michli, 34, repeatedly reopening the shutters straight after being raided. He’s described the decision to close gyms as the ‘worst I’ve encountered in my life’ and has pledged to reopen again as soon as possible. Police and council workers have been called to the gym on several occasions since the second lockdown began a week ago and eventually decided yesterday to block the entrance to make sure customers couldn’t get in.
