Yeh - I also did the chav thing went to MTV, also managed to get to be one of the audience on Good Morning America hosted by Diane Sawyer (at the time didn't have a clue who is Diane Sawyer) went to Planet Hollywood a lot of stars go there after they visit the MTV building across the road, Macys & Bloomfield (had to do the Rachel thing :-)

I ate mainly in delis e.g Carnegie deli , Roxy and all the tourist places

You really should take a tour uptown and downtown, they take you to see Brooklyn and Harlem, tell you about all the various migrants history, the Irish, the Italians, the Chinese (a visit to China town is also recommended - lots of fake designer stuff)
Last but not least is the empire building and statue of liberty. Didn’t get a chance to see all the museums, but went to the theatre almost every night..

Hope you have better weather - it was minus 13 when I went, but still it was fantastic, would do it again if I had the time and money. btw: if you are a musician, there is a whole street (think its 47th) which is music shops end to end, the music equipments were amazing
    !

I personally found Central park a bit too far (i.e. about 15 minutes extra walk), especially if you want to be near theatres , comedy clubs and shopping areas.. hence I stayed on 48th street (about 3 minutes walk from Times Square)

However NY is the easiest town to find your way round cuz they have the grid system, also taxies are not expensive at all..

btw: this is a really really important advice, when you arrive at the airport, there will be plenty of taxi drivers offering you a taxi ride (official taxies ) but don't take any of it, walk to the formal taxi rank queue, the ride from JFK or Newark airports to Manhattan should be $50 (not sure if its the same still , but there is a set price) I know someone else who took the first taxi without going to the formal queue and paid double price for it.

£510 seems quite high for a flight to NY, unless you mean the £510 includes hotel and flight.

Went there - I loved it, I had a good deal on staying in a 4 star hotel near Times Square (off broadway) I really had a lot of fun there. Enjoy it.
