You forgot Shares, pension contributions, BUPA, Dental insurance, paid holidays, sick pay, car, fuel, life insurance, bonus (I got 11k extra in December).
I've been techie contracting on 400-500 a day for years and the best salary I've ever seen for an end user permie role in my game is 50K, and I reckon 40K tops at the moment. If somebody offered me 70K for a cushy end user job on 37.5 hours a week I'd snatch their hand off, then probably get fed up within a year and pack it in !
I dream of having 22K to live on. I do not have the skill to warrant such splendid rewards. All I can do is look on in admiration as highly trained and experienced overseas brothers and sisters show me up as a washed-out old fool. I can hardly afford to pay myself minimum wage, but I am still proud to do my duty to society and pay every penny of tax that I can.
