I seriously considered buying that ex monastry last year. It was offered at a very reasonable price, but I figured I couldnt raise the cash to refurb it.
I figured it for hotel and country club and as I remember it had enough land for a couple of golf courses.
If t was in a bad way you may have been eligible fort a grant to help with refurbishment? A couple from Portsmouth that moved up north next to my parents stomping ground got a 70% grant for the cost of refurbishment of their recently acquired but ‘n’ ben.

Been there 3 times in the last 12 months, rent an apartment get some supplies from the local patisserie, a jar of framboise, bread and a fine bottle of wine, then I’m ready, ready to relax and do nothing but absorb the atmosphere.
France is tempting me more and more these days perhaps even an appartment in montmartre Paris, great food, great architecture, nice walks around the streets looking for the next coffee shop hand in hand with me lover.
