Been out in the Caribbean myself (see other thread), Hotels do allow non-guests in.
Yeah, if you're white. If you're living out there I'm assuming you're gonna make friends with the locals, in which case the hotels are pretty much off limits.
How do you guys manage to get contracts in these exotic locations. Is there a special jobsite for this?
It was a permie job for an online gambling company A friend of mine met the MD at a party and he was looking to hire two developers. My friend recommended me and the job was mine.

Worked out in Antigua for a while. I would never live there. Assuming that most Caribbean islands are the same, the basic reason is that all the the entertainment is run by the hotel complexes, and if you're not a guest, you've got a 15 foot high fence to scale as well as big dogs and men with guns to outrun to get in.

So what are you left with? One cinema with one screen in the middle of the capital (St John's in the case of Antigua) which is full of old blokes boozing, smoking and chatting away. And loads of beach bars.
So basically, the only thing to do for leisure is to drink yourself to death. Or, if you're a millionaire, you can sail your yacht round the islands with all the other rich idiots and drink Pimms.
