It appears that the more money I spend out on buying a car the worse that car is.

100,000 in a modern 2 litre should mean it has just about been run in.

Once walked away from a beautifully equipped Golf GTi with 115,000 on the clock. Soon thereafter some motoring programme - probably an early Top Gear - said Golfs were best after they had reached 100,000.

Makes you laugh when you think cars used to dream of reaching their tenth birthday and 100,000.

I don't buy a car with less than 100,000 on the clock so I couldn't comment regarding any improvements in quality. I live for the next motoring problem!

The previous new car I bought 13 years ago was a Mondeo estate - looked good & moved the family around.

Trouble was from new & within 5k the steering arm shaft had detached itself from at the rubber joint, at 10k the starter motor failed & ditto one of the electric windows; so I dumped it & bought a Shogun which did 143k without missing a beat.
    Has Ford quality control improved?

Esure were really good for me - way cheaper than all the others and a really good policy as well. Mind you, I am old and have hundreds of years no claims so that may have had something to do with it
