2 Contract offers withdrawn after initial offer.

1st tried to renegotiate rate and eventual they said they got someone for £140 per day as a C# Analyst Developer - and yes those pigs look very nice as they pass over canary wharf!

2nd called at 5pm today to say they did not want me in tomorrow to start contract because they did not have budget signoff. Person to sign is on maternity leave. They might get something organised in the next week or so and would I wait. An expression involving two words, the 2nd of which is off and the first begins with 'F' springs to mind.

I would not mind so much but agents are so vocal about contractors doing the opposite and I have turned down work because I'd already promised to do this one, I'm also out of pocket having just got a Travelcard for the next week, but then that is only £24.

Getting 100% callback to application ratio - however turning 99% of them down because the rate is too low. When I try and talk it up the pimp blanks me. From this I can deduce that the market is buoyant but some folk are accepting stupidly low rates (possibly to pay off the xmas debt).

Whoever you are - please stop it!

I just got PM by a recon based upon my profile here, and the gig seems to fit.

shame I'm in contract and fear the wrath of malvino if I quit.

Only 79.... wow that's a change from 2689 average applicants per job in 2003.
