Refined sugar is the cause of excess fat in Western diets - period. Well IMHO anyways.
Just check out the low fat con - everyone eating low fat meals are fat, why? Because there is loads of sugar in them. The lack of fat means that you are hungry straight after and so the cycle continues.
Beer bellies are caused by all the excess sugar in beer (I should know).
Try eating lighter meals for you tea that are filling such as omelletes and don't whatever you do eat any chocolates or sweets whilst you are trying to lose fat. Also keep your desk full of fresh fruit at work and only ever snack on this.
Processed food will not generally work if you seek to lose fat.
