Hostile foreign undemocratic regimes should have never been allowed to have any leverage - especially in high tech.

Is there anything you are not a contra-indicator for? Chinese technical theft is estimated at $80Bn per year and there will be more companies targeted.

I wonder how badly it will hurt Apple:
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/artic...ump-huawei-ban
Apple could lose nearly a third of its profit if China retaliated by banning its products, Goldman Sachs analysts estimated this week. Dan Ives, an analyst at Wedbush Securities, said 3% to 5% of iPhone sales in China may disappear over the next 12 to 18 months because of the U.S. ban on Huawei. Apple shares were down less than 1% at 9:36 a.m. in New York.
Apple would face much more dire consequences if production restrictions were implemented in China, Goldman analysts led by Rod Hall wrote in a research note.

Huawei vs US
You lot are awfully quiet on this. Trump's latest tantrum, nothing more than an effort to control the free market which will surely have more impact on companies in the UK (ARM), the US for sure (Google, hardware manufactures), as well as Huawei themselves.
Huawei are being a class act all the way. The US is attacking a private company to help level the playing field in support of their own brands, which are 2-3 years behind Huawei.
German media "Der Spiegel": Huawei equipment "back door" was not found, the United States Cisco has found 10 since 2013
