"After a new moby but want one with a really good camera. Any suggestions? This will be a carphone warehouse upgrade..."
What's your starting point though? At the mo' there's still only a few which qualify as really good, but then it depends if you also want small or are happy with some of the big, big, big Nokia kit.
"Honestly, who needs all this fecking junk?"
I used to think like that, but after buying my current phone changed completely and became someone who yesterday, rather than writing down a business' address, found it quicker/easier to simply take a photo of the details using my phone.
"It sounds churlish but I have to agree. OTOH if you just want a no-focus snapshotter that actually produces recognisable snaps of people near you, fine: that's what I want from my phone camera too. But I wouldn't call it "really good", or even "any good"."
Disagree totally. Take a look at the pics on Esato, or even a couple of mine own recents pics (1/2)

Why are they putting cameras into phones FFS?
I want a camera with a built in mobile phone, but can I find one?

Agree on cameras.
Can't see how you could fit a 6x6 or 5"x4" into a moby!

If you want a "really good camera" then buy a fecking camera, not a mobile phone.
"Decent camera" = quality compact digital eg Nikon Coolpix.
"Good camera" = 35mm or recent digital SLR.
"Really good camera" = Medium Format or better.

No - you're just alone and frustrated...Originally posted by bogeymanAm I alone in being frustrated with this flimsy, feature-overloaded, poorly-engineered, 'made in China' tulipe that passes for consumer electronics nowadays?

Why carry a separate camera when I can just use my mobile? If the camera quality is good enough then a quick click, download onto the PC and there you go.
I was at the kids christmas show and I only had my mobile on me. While the pictures will be OK (2 Megapixels), I want to see if theres a better one out there...

Honestly, who needs all this fecking junk?
I have had dozens of mobile phones over the years, and from a functional point of view, except for portability and battery life, they seem to be getting worse and worse.
I want a mobile to make phone calls and send the very occasional 'txt msg m8'.
I don't want it to organise my life (I have a diary), be a camera (I have proper cameras) or a game-playing device.
Same thing with PDAs. I was an early adopter with the (hopeless) Apple Newton, and the (somewhat functional) Psion 3a. But in the end, I reverted to pen, and a pocket diary/notebook - so much more functional and no battery worries!
Am I alone in being frustrated with this flimsy, feature-overloaded, poorly-engineered, 'made in China' tulipe that passes for consumer electronics nowadays?
Whatever you buy, this time next year it will be on the tulipheap anyway.
