I landed my last gig in this way, after having connected speculatively on LinkedIn first and sending my CV through immediately after, with a nice covering note.

Yep, with small outfits with no HR operation. Landed a couple of gigs that way. Just picked up the phones, spoke nicely to the receptionist and she put me through to the MD.Originally posted by The ideal candidate View PostFollowing on from Darrens thread on the old ways of finding a gig not working any more http://forums.contractoruk.com/busin...rking-now.html
Has anyone had any success with targetting end client decision makers with a cold email of your CV ?
With bigger Cos though you just hit a brick wall. They'll tell you to send your CV to the HR dept and 9 times out of 10 they'll only hire you via their preferred supplier.
That's my experience anyhow.
