We don't need Labour in power; we need a decent Labour opposition to keep a Tory government on their toes. Corbyn would be capable of that if the party backed him. Support for Corbyn has been growing; a mass revolt if he's voted out by MPs could see a splinter of Labour.

The MPs are the ones that the people elected. The party elected Corbyn but obviously anyone who would join a political party is not representative of the typical voter, so really this whole thing is a battle of more extreme party members vs. the people.Originally posted by LondonManc View PostNeither did I but I'm not a member of the Labour Party and believe that each party should sort themselves out and establish their leader, not to then have that decision reversed by the champagne socialists whose gravy train Mr Corbyn will no doubt derail should he be given the chance. I admire the bloke, albeit I don't necessarily agree with him on many things.
All of this would be fine if we were talking about UKIP, or the Greens, or anybody else on the sidelines but we need Labour to form a viable opposition and with Corbyn the signs are that the Tories will go unopposed for a decade. Which is probably why so many Tories were happy to join Labour and vote for him.

Certainly explains the way the country has gone over the last couple of decades.

Someone told him that a vacuum was forming at the top of the Labour Party. They neglected to tell him that this vacuum comprised the space between the ears of Corbyn, Eagle, and Smith.

Cheers, that'll save me wasting time on him. I'd assumed before reading this thread he was another moderate who was going to split the vote and guarantee Corbyn's continuity. Even so, he's doomed to fail of course, being more left (red) is the key in these situations. As Mao's cultural revolution taught usOriginally posted by GB9 View PostSpot on. He's a hypocrite lefty. Corbyn is full blown but at least he believes what he says. Most of the lefties have millions stashed away and live in bloody big houses they inherited.

Apparently Comrade Smith is to introduce an annual 10% levy on all BTL income.
