So at the time on deflation train companies want to increase fares. Presumably this is to fund the bonus and other incentives for the executives.

It is now time to get Corbyn in so that these leeches can be nationalised and the people in this country start getting a better deal in public transport.

Doesn't the taxpayer still subsidise most of the railways? How much does the government give to all these private companies that run utilities that were once nationalised in subsidies?

Last I heard the govt currently spends 4 times the amount they used to spend on it.

Not that simple. There are three different elements pulling in different directions. For me, it should be a completely nationalized infrastructure service, same as the roads. Get more railways built, dig Beeching up and hang him get more freight-dedicated rail lines running, particularly from east to west and a far better railway service to mimic the M62 corridor and take in Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds and Hull with end-to-end in 90 minutes max, with just those four stations plus Warrington Bank Quay.

Winning the Second World War has cost us because we vastly overspend on military projects rather than investing in infrastructure.

Or when 'privatising' various network goods they could just transfer ownership to net taxpayers and form some sort of consumer coop out of it, and restrict terms of sale when incorporating to require approval from a majority of members, rather than selling it off to cronies or retaining ownership. At least it'd then be an actual market entity and the ownership would transfer to those who actually pay for it, rather than remaining in the hands of a corrupt, utterly inefficient organisation, like the govt.
