Advice. Close ports
21
22
25
53
80
443
Or just filter them. Do it speedo or brain dead consultants are going to pushing their monitors confused and powerless, in the morning.
I knew this site would not be secure, but to have port 53 is just asking to be ass raped.
1. URL is a service-specific piece of terminology. A machine doesn't have a URL. Services do.
2. Do you know what the services actually are or have you actually ever run a web server other than "OMG I INSTALLED APACHE ON REDHAT - J00 HAX0R?".
21 - FTP-control. Fairly basic hosting thing. Only control is open so firewall is stateful only allowing FTP-data after initiation of control connection. Good job sirs.
22 - SSH - well it's better than leaving telnet on.
25 - SMTP - well how the feck else are you going to get emails?
53 - DNS - perhaps it is a DNS primary or secondary? You need it open to do zone transfers. It's probably secure but I can't be arsed to look. Could probably be locked to an IP but there are other security measures.
80 - HTTP - Well I couldn't post this otherwise could I?
443 - SSL - Quite handy too when you want to encrypt HTTP
3. Just because a port is open, it doesn't mean there is a service (look at xinetd manpage).
4. Just because a service is open, it doesn't mean it's 100% hackable. If this were the case, the internet would be gone.
I therefore hit you with the fuc king clue stick. Now crawl off back down your hole before I hit you a again.
