"For Wentworth members, the price to remain at their beloved club is even higher than they first feared.

They have been informed by the new Chinese owners they will have to pay a £100,000 debenture as well as an annual fee of £16,000.

How many of the current membership will sign up on these terms is a moot point, but considering the atmosphere at the annual general meeting at the famous Surrey on Tuesday night, the answer is probably not many. "
