    The USA shuffles away from another embarrassing defeat, whistling throught its teeth, and looking downcast at its dusty, sand and blood-covered boots.

    In years to come, Hollywood will fix it all up and make it right again.

    The RAF are "utterly, utterly useless" in protecting troops on the ground in Afghanistan, a major with the main UK battle group said in a leaked e-mail.

    The e-mail, which has been sent to British Army head Sir Richard Dannatt, comes a day after another British commander in Afghanistan said the Army was sustaining higher casualties than official figures suggested.
    I was wondering - what is the government's endgame in Afganistan?
