I am currently part of a hobby project to build an old Von Neuman PC. I am writing an emulator so we can test out the compiler I am writing against it. Interesting stuff.

Lex and Yacc? Fairly easy to write a basic compiler and interpreter - it's a solved problem. Grammar definition is the hard part of language design. I built a compiler and interpreter for a Tier 1 bank in the 90s. I wonder if it's still used-doubt it.
