No reason to stop him driving then..... and he is just the sort of person the West Midlands needs if we are to avoid the pensions crises.
I would have thought that preventing a disabled war hero from driving infringes on his Human Rights. I hope Cherie gets to sort this out properly under legal aid.

I live in area where their are lots of Poles who frequently are seen to crash into random objects i.e. like a trees on the pavement, people and run off. As far as I know the majority of the Polish population are white.

"Magistrates were required by law to order Aziz to take an extended driving test, if he ever decides to apply for a driving licence."

Unfortunately if he applies for a driving license Aziz has to inform the DVLA of any medical conditions. So he's going to have to bribe a doctor to say he is medically fit to drive.

    The extended practical driving test

Retesting for disqualified drivers and riders was introduced on 6 January, 1992. The purpose of retesting disqualified drivers is not meant as punishment, but is a road safety measure aimed at checking the driver’s competence.

Courts can impose an extended driving test on anyone who is:

    * convicted of dangerous driving offences
    * convicted of other offences involving obligatory disqualification

Loss of your driving licence for dangerous driving or related offences involving obligatory disqualification means that you return to ‘learner’ status - normal rules for provisional licence holders will then apply.

You must therefore take and pass a theory test for the category of vehicle you intend to take an extended practical driving test in.

The extended driving test is longer and therefore more demanding. It lasts for about 70 minutes and covers a wide variety of roads, usually including dual carriageways. You are advised to prepare by taking suitable instruction from an approved driving instructor (ADI).

Following disqualification from riding under the Road Traffic Act, all riders are required to complete CBT to validate their new provisional driving licence when it is issued.

It could have been worse. He could have been blind drunk at the wheel.

Odds are he'll fail the extended driving test.

    Blind Iraqi (asylum-seeker ?)

He should have claimed that he didn't know the law just 'cos he couldn't read it! Or mentioned that it was in the film 'Scent of a Woman' and so it was OK! Or it was compliant with Sharia law! etc etc etc the mind boggles.

    Suspended term for blind driver

    Aziz denied dangerous driving

A blind man convicted of dangerous driving, after police spotted his car on the wrong side of the road, has been given a suspended jail sentence.
Omed Aziz, 31, from Oldbury, West Midlands, who was being directed by an allegedly banned driver, was given 12 weeks in prison suspended for a year.

He has also been banned from driving for three years and ordered to take an extended driving test.

Magistrates heard he reached speeds of up to 35mph (56km/h) on the trip.

Aziz, who lost his eyes in a bomb blast, was driving through Oldbury in April.

    He denied dangerous driving.

At a previous hearing, Iraqi-born Aziz pleaded guilty to driving with no MOT, no licence and no insurance.

Aziz and his friend were arrested on 23 April at about 2300 BST, after police followed their car along Oldbury Ringway and into West Bromwich Street, the court was told.

What a load of tosh, 12 weeks suspended for a year, he got off scot free. bet that wouldn't have happened if he hadn't been blind!!!

Working...
