back in the day our cats were always feed the cream from the top of the silver top
never seemed to do them any harm
but also yes our cats rarely seem to drink from their water bowl
in fact judging by the corpses we get they seem to just drink blood....

My cats prefer to drink rainwater - even if it's manky old stuff that's collected in a bucket outside.
Also, I don't think all cats drink the same anyway - if they have wet food they'll get a good amount from that. If they hunt - even more.

Yes, I've read cats think water need food is contaminated.
And in the wild, drinking is hazardous.
Will try spreading a number of bowls around the place.
TIL that domestic cats instinctively don't want to drink from the water bowl next to their food, and therefore seek it out first elsewhere in the house, because in the wild any water next to their kill might be contaminated. : todayilearned

As long as it's lactose free milk (The stuff all pet stores have) it's fine

Also you shouldn't be giving it milk as cats lose tolerance to lactose once they have matured.

Tie it in a hessian sack and throw in in a large body of water, if it drinks water then its fine

Narp...catrose is probably supping from the well of the toilet! This is what mine do.
If its still alive after a month, it is getting its water from somewhere.

Cat rose hasn't drunk any milk or water for over a month. Should I go to the Vet?
