    Amadeus

    I am Michael of Metrorec Ltd and what you’re saying is not the whole picture. If you were not called back for an interview with Amadeus it is because of one of these reasons:

    (1) Amadeus initially agreed to sponsor non-UK-EU citizens visas, then they changed this criteria so if you were one of those applications then this is why you did not get an interview even if you passed their technical test;

    (2) Amadeus' perhaps you did not score highly enough on their test (I don't know your real name but if you tell me I will login and tell you what you really scored), if you scored 13 or 14 from a possible 20 then that would be a pass but not necessarily convincing enough to make the client relocate and initiate long and lengthy visa applications as they could find people of those scores within the UK/EU;
    So, I hope this has cleared some things up for you and for anyone who was felt let down by Amadeus' recruiting process, Amadeus is a great company but no company is going to be spoken about highly of by people who were not hired and who felt let down in some way - but on the other hand if you ask actual employees of this firm (who were hired) then you are going to hear a completely different story.

    I scored 85% according to the agent. In reality, I got all answers correct.

    This wasn't good enough for Metrorec and I never heard from them again; what a surprise!

    I am really pi**ed off on this.
    Submit a data protection access request to the agency and to the testing company.

    Not sure what you want to do with the information when you get it, even if you are "right", though. The only outcome of any use is that you'll know that either (a) you are as good as you think you are and the agent lied to you (shock); or (b) you aren't as good as you think you are.

    Forget it.

    Something seriously wrong with their evaluation tool.

    Perhaps its because you did not book your test with ETS.

    TomTom don't have a clue about evaluating developers. They love their "Design Patterns", though.

    When I did it:

    They will ask you to do an online C++ test, for which they will expect you to score highly. Problem is, some of the questions have serious issues - you know the sort - someone tries to be too clever for their own good and ends up giving you multiple-choice answers that are ambiguous.

    It was obvious that the questions hadn't been peer reviewed by an actual C++ programmer. So I checked the HTML source and it looked to me that their web site developer had thrown in C++ questions from around the Internet. So how would he even know if the questions were fair, relevant or accurate? Did anyone in the company actually test the thing to check the answers were correctly evaluated at the server? Not happy.

    IMO if they have that little respect for prospective contractors then they can go jump. Since then I've learnt that pretty much any company that asks you to do an online programming test because they can't evaluate a CV properly, or conduct a brief phone interview with a techie, isn't really worth the time. (Tom Tom is another culprit and some of their C++ positions have been open for 6+ months!).

    Went through the interview process (phone interview followed by a face-to-face) for a business analyst contract a few months ago. Thought it went well especially since I had experience of the relevant products at an airline in the contract I was in immediately prior to going for this role. However, they never got back to the agent. I'm glad as the rate was very low and I would have accepted it as I was on the bench at the time. (In the initial stage they did ask me whether I was interested in a permanent role which was also very low).

    For what it's worth it seemed a nice place to work and they said they had a few long term contractors some of who they persuaded to go permie after a couple of years. I also know a couple of (C++) contractors who have worked there and they said it was OK - nice people to work with.

    Has anyone worked for this company. I see many agencies advert for c++ contract position with this client. I have been seeing these adverts posted every 3-4 months since about three years. Wondering whether they are not able to fill these positions or no contractor who was offered the contract didn't want to contiue beyond first contract.

Working...
