Not sure about London but the Watford Travelodge I can get a room for < £30 a night if I book at least a month in advance, the week before the price goes up to £70 a night! For that sort of money I can stay in a much better hotel (like Holiday Inn Express) so don't bother with the TL if I'm staying down on short notice. I would imagine in London its pretty much > £100 a night no matter when you book...

Seems a bit vague mind. Like someone said, reasonable might mean 15p a mile to them...

Know my client is stitching up their 3rd party people here and told them its 15p a mile from now on. Needless to say some of them have now said sod off then I aint going anywhere.

Doesnt affect me I;m on all inclusive rate. I rarely travel but if I do I have to stump up petrol/hotel myself :-( Travelodge all the way.

Might bring the tax man running - you need to charge VAT (if registered) on expenses recharged to clients.

I agreed with the current agency that 'reasonable' travel would be in line with the Client's expenses policy (actually quite generous).

I list out all of my travel expenses every month and get the Client to sign them off so that the agency has evidence Client is OK to pay them. I send that list plus copies of receipts as back up to the invoice.

The first time they paid me they completely ignored the invoice and the list of expenses and knocked the mileage rate down from 45p to 15p a mile - until I pointed out that if the Client had already signed agreement to the mileage cost he was hardly going to refuse to pay. Worked fine since then.

I guess my head is shot and I'm reading it the other way, probably because I know they're trying to claw back some of the money so they can make more off me. Unfortunately the end client has to use them as there's no alternative.

    Travel and accommodation

    Hi all

I'm almost there in terms of getting the client to sign the contract but they've amended it to:

4.4 The Services will normally be provided on the Client's premises at xxxxx or the Consultancy's premises and the Consultancy shall recharge at cost for travelling to and from these premises. In the event that the Services require the Consultancy to travel to another location, the Client shall reimburse all reasonable out of pocket expenses incurred by the Consultancy in performing the Services where approved in advance by xxxxxxx in writing (including email) and supported by valid receipts of and in connection with such travel, on the following basis:

Does anyone have a cast iron clause to ensure that I can make sure these rats for out for both my travel and accommodation as I know for a fact that their end client will be reimbursing them for all of it.

Working...
