You can get a 'temporary' NI number. I had one for years when working as a Permie. I think you end up paying higher rate tax, which I would have anyway, and it makes it more difficult to claim tax back if you move 'home' again. Supposedly the temporary NI numbers are there so you can get to work while you wait for your real NI number to come through.

No you get a UK bank account after you have set up the company.
However you may have difficulty getting one as banks have a look at the credit history of the director(s) of the company.
The National Insurance Number isn't related to either of those. You just require one to work in the UK.

Thank you for this quick reply Alan.
Yes I’m about to ask for a NIN, I will do the job at home as a consultant but the house is located in London, I don’t know if this is considered “working in UK” because this job could be done anywhere in the world, but it could be useful to have this number.
But I assume that I will need a UK bank account in order to set up the company, is that right?
And the company needs to be settle in UK as well I suppose? (I mean, I need to provide a UK adress)
Thank you again.

You do not need a National Insurance number to set up a new Limited company.
However I would suggest you arrange to obtain one asap, as you will need it if you plan to work in the UK.

Setting Up a Ltd Company
Hello,
I am about to setup a limited company in UK, but I'm from France and I want to know if I need to ask for a national insurance number before?
Of course I know it is something usefull ultimately, but unfortunately it takes a long time to obtain this NIN, that why I am asking you if this number is required to set up a LTD company (or umbrella, or self-a).
Thank you in advance for your answer, have a good day!
