Notice how most are ex-music or 'ology graduates?
It sort of expalins why most read anything with Oracle in your CV and think you're a DBA.

meeting agents is a complete waste of time, likely just another thing on their score card like % time on the phone, leads / day blah blah blah

I bet she wasn't as flexible when it came to her margin though!Originally posted by TheFaQQer View PostAgent who found me my last permie gig was a former professional gymnast. She was VERY bendy.

I noticed that one of the "agents" who I'm connected to only came out of Sixth Form last year. Had a dig round and there are at least 2 other girls her age working there as well.Originally posted by SneakySimon View PostTell me about it - every other day some stunning agent is linking to me (which I gladly accept!!). Just wish they would invite me out for a coffee to "discuss opportunities"
And to think how many contractors depend on the likes of them to earn a living

Try To
I usually try to meet the agent if the role is more serious - i.e. an interview is lined up.
In my first contract, I met several agents for coffee and it was largely pointless, didn't really improve my prospects with them and tended to be a Agent asking about
I have been with my current agency for almost 2 years and 9 months ago they set up a team to "look after the contractors" which essentially deal with invoices, queries etc. Every 6 weeks they take me out for a cuppa and ask how I am etc. They claim that if I wanted to move from current client, they would help me and look for something else - would be intrigued to see this in action!!

Agent Meetings
Met 2 agents in ten years :
1st. My first contract agent wanted to meet me hour before interview with client, 3 month gig, turned out to be there 4.5 years..........
2nd. Complete waste of time, wonder if bods still on Shaftsbury Ave in plush offices?
Moral: I meet if just before interview, any of the " Got opportunities coming up malarky" - No thanks!!!!

Went for a permie role in the City several years ago.Originally posted by farout117 View PostSmall update, agent called again and stressed out the importance of meeting face to face, and this time named the client, however when pressing him to arrange interview first, he stressed out that he wants to f2f first, and at their offices!
Agent wanted a f2f to see if 'my face/personality would fit' the environment as it would be my first role in Finance.
Was worthwhile as got put forward to interview with client but a contract came up beforehand which I took instead.
