Different agencies have different payment terms.

There is nothing wrong with yours.

Have a look at the payontime website.

There are actually steps you should follow before taking someone to court from non-payment or using a debt collector.

And as you haven't had this problem yet why are you worried?

Any change in payment terms needs to be agreed by both parties.

If I was an agency and you came whining about payment terms very soon after accepting the contract I would find someone else to take on the contract.

Rather than the abrupt answer above, here's your answers in order of questions:

    1. It's different but not unheard of. Ask them to make it 7 day terms but if you can afford 3 week terms then it shouldn't be a deal breaker.
    2. Yes. Search on here for dunning. That said, if you go straight for legal if they're a couple of days late then you may be making your life harder. Just make sure they pay on time by reminding them 2 days before payment is due on the first invoice (e.g. if you're due payment on Friday, ask them on Wednesday if you'll be paid). Most agencies pay on time but the first invoice can be funny.
    3. Not really. Try at natural points in the contract or at the 6 month anniversary.
