Agents will always prefer you to renew where you are. Its less hassle, less risk for them, and looks good as they are seen to be providing "stayers". Even if you leave at the end of contract, it's still seen as quitting if there is an extension on offer.

Agent is fishing for info about your current client, so he can supply a better CV fit for the role.
It's easier to deal with agents if you think WHY they want to know something.
Most of the time its nothing to do with you, they are looking for information on the client, so they can say the right thing when they are putting someone forward to replace you.

The new role is quite exciting, and so is the client. It would look good on my CV and all the boxes tick. But am sure he is not looking for this answers.

Hi all,
What do you guys tell the agent, who is offering a new role; when they say why wont you take up extension with the current role? I know he is just trying to make sure, his efforts are fruitful in the end, but I wonder if any of the contractor say that s/he is not sure of that?
